You deserve stable, affordable housing in the city you call home, and the reason I’m running for City Council (4th district At-Large) is to make that a reality.
Our community has already fought for important housing rights and resources. See our next post for resources available right now.

This campaign is about listening to your ideas, your concerns, and your vision for our community!

Big thank you to @goodkarmacoffee_ for letting us stop by!
I had the opportunity to help clean up Kessler Park this morning in an effort led by @repwick. We picked up trash and recycled over 1,000 pounds of glass. If you have the capacity to join in the future, Wick will be hosting this opportunity every Second Saturday of the month at 8:30 am!
Two bills, HJR 111 and HJR 148, are being heard today by a Missouri House committee.
These bills would take away the district’s ability to set its own property tax levy and remove an exemption from normal tax levy limits. Loss of local control would have a major effect on school budgets, pay for teachers, school buildings, not mention the impact on the kids.
Please submit written testimony by midnight tonight (2/3/26) in opposition of these bills
Key tips for testimony:
Make it personal ( how does this impact your classroom, students, neighborhood).
Explain what cuts would mean for your job, students, kids, and the city.
Discuss wages, staffing, and the sacrifices that school admin would have to make
Emphasize that Kansas City should control its own schools.

Platform Ventures is the investment firm that owns the warehouse DHS and ICE wants to turn into a detention center. I do not want ICE or an ICE detention facility anywhere in my community. If Platform Ventures moves forward with this sale, they will share responsibility for the harm it brings, harm that includes the targeting of our Black and Brown neighbors, the separation of families, inhumane caging of human beings, and death. That isn’t right, and we need to do what we need to avoid that outcome.

*checks weather* Let’s try this again 😌
Building community starts with conversation. Join me at @goodkarmacoffee_ , one of my favorite coffee shops in KC, this Saturday, February 7th from 10 a.m. to noon. Let’s talk about the future of our city. Can’t wait to see you there!
I had a great time at Unity Southeast KC helping prepare and serve breakfast with Brandy and Anthony (pictured). I am now an expert at making pancake and French toast batter 👨🏾🍳
@unitysoutheastinkc is one of many low barrier shelters that are part of Kansas City’s Extreme Weather Plan. There are four levels of activation that shelters may participate in. For example, a Level 1 shelter is available every night from Dec 1st–Mar 1st. Certain conditions, like extreme cold/heat, activate higher levels, which increase access to beds and services.
Unity Southeast specifically provides food services and is always in need of support. If you have the capacity to donate to their pantry, check out the 4th slide for commonly needed items. If you’re interested in volunteering, take a look at the link in my comments.
Looking forward to checking out more shelters in the area!
One of the most meaningful strategies for defense against ICE is to KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. All people in the U.S. have rights and protections regardless of immigration status. @airr_kc has a great Know Your Rights training (link in bio).
Also, visit https://www.ilrc.org/redcards (link in comments) to download cards from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (IRLC) and print personally (free) or order to have them shipped to you (free for immigrant-serving non-profits). They have 50+ different languages. Leave cards for folks at your business, hand them out at protests (like I did), leave a few at a local pantry, or keep one in your pocket just in case.
