From coaching at Freight House Fitness to working on initiatives like KC Kids Eat, everything I do is about showing up for this community. It’s about building strength—physically, mentally, and across our city.
I’m running for 4th District-at-Large because I believe Kansas City deserves leadership that’s present, accountable, and rooted in service. The same discipline and consistency I bring to coaching is what I’m bringing to this campaign.
We’ve got work to do—and I’m ready for it.

The impacts of the H.R.1 Act, also known as the “Big Beautiful Bill”, will significantly reduce access to affordable healthcare for people across Missouri, Kansas, and beyond.
Panelist at the State of Black Healthcare event, Nicole Garner, Executive Director of the African American Center for Health at KU Medical Center, shared important guidance for individuals and families who rely on Medicaid as these changes take effect.
An estimated 160,000–170,000 Missourians are expected to lose their health coverage under this legislation, with thousands impacted right here in Kansas City. Key changes to Medicaid include:
– New work requirements (80 hours per month of work, education, community service, or training beginning January 1, 2027)
– Eligibility checks every 6 months instead of once a year
– $35 copays
– New restrictions on immigrant eligibility, eliminating coverage for refugees, asylum seekers, individuals with Temporary Protected Status, humanitarian parolees, trafficking survivors, and others
Rural communities are also expected to face increased strain on already limited healthcare resources.
Similar challenges are anticipated for individuals and families who rely on SNAP for food assistance.
These changes will disproportionately impact communities of color, rural residents, people living with chronic conditions, and immigrant and refugee communities.
If you need help with Medicaid enrollment or renewals, the following organizations can help you: Swope Health (816-599-5590), Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center (816-889-4797), KC Care Health Center (816-753-5144), University Health (816-404-3000), the Kansas Assistance Network or call DSS at 855-373-4636.
Come chat with me at Two Sugars Coffee on Sunday, April 19th from 12-2 pm! We will be collecting snacks for KCPS and discussing the future of Kansas City. Looking forward to seeing you there!

I voted yes for the earnings tax mainly because a replacement will likely include an increase in sales and property taxes which would disproportionately affect working class folks and we’d see a reduction or even elimination of some city services like trash collection, public safety, and snow removal.
Polling places should be open until about 7:00pm today so please take some time to vote!
Grateful to attend an important conversation on the healthcare industry and how it shapes our everyday lives.
Heard powerful insights on the expected impact of the “Big Beautiful Bill” on access to care for those relying on Medicaid, Medicare, and SNAP in KCMO and beyond. We took a meaningful look back at the history of hospitals that served African American communities in KC, including a panel featuring my mentor, Grandad (iykyk), @jimnunnelly
Spring cleaning in full effect ☀️
Spent the morning with Amanda cleaning up Budd Park in the Indian Mound neighborhood, something she shows up to do regularly, then headed to Coal Mine Rd to support the Heartland Conservation Alliance and the Blue River Rescue picking up tires and muddy pants near (you guessed it) the Blue River.
Proud to do my part to help keep Kansas City clean and thriving especially on the newly christened Blue River Day, which now occurs on the first Saturday of the month. If you’re interested in getting involved, there’s another opportunity to help clean up Kessler Park next Saturday at 8:30 am with @wickformo. And if that doesn’t work for you, I’m always happy to share future opportunities. Sometimes it’s as simple as picking up trash on your block.

S/o Captain America for being down with us 🫡
On April 7th, Kansas City voters will see the earnings tax (e-tax) on the ballot as Question 1.
The e-tax is critical to maintaining essential city services and protecting jobs across Kansas City. Without it, we risk higher taxes that hit working class and financially vulnerable people the hardest, along with cuts to the services our neighborhoods rely on.
I’m thinking about the folks who keep our city running every day, who literally can’t afford a substantial increase in property and sales taxes to replace the revenue from the e-tax. That’s why I’m voting YES on April 7th.

Meet Catherine! She’s the owner of Baker’s Table and the mastermind behind some of the best cinnamon rolls (and maple bacon cheddar biscuits) I’ve had in the Kansas City area. She’ll be hosting one last pop-up this month at Good Karma Coffee on Sunday, 3/29, so make sure to swing by and check it out!
P.S. I’ve also been told that her peach cobbler cinnamon rolls are sent from above but she only has them during certain days at her brick and mortar in Parkville so be on the look out!

Glad I was able to visit @blaqoutkc to attend a panel discussion hosted by @transguysgatherkc with community leaders Korea and Anakin about building space, community and power in LGBTQ communities, with respect to the Black queer and trans community.
Also, I’d like to boost @lgbtqpeaceproject which is working to reduce loneliness and depression in the LGBTQ community. Please feel free to follow and support these orgs.
Lastly, there will be a Trans Day of Visibility Resource Fair on March 31st. Visit @twocc_org for more information!
